3 Ways to Have an Original Thought
your brain needs space to create, not just consume.
Good morning . ♡
Your Daily Prayer
I yield to Your Spirit.
Lord, order my steps today.
I turn my heart toward You, Jesus.
Father, let Your name be written on my forehead, I am Yours and I will see Your face. (Revelation 22:4)
I thank You, Lord, that You are my strength in the time of trouble. You shall help me and deliver me because I trust in You. (Psalm 37:39–40)
By the blood of Jesus, I disallow restlessness today.
Lord help me not to rush what You are building in secret.
I rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.
I invite you into my day Holy Spirit, thank you for loving me, and leading me.
In Jesus name I pray, amen.
3 Ways to Have an Original Thought your brain needs space to create, not just consume.
When was the last time you had a thought that was actually yours? Like, not something you picked up from a Tiktok or half-heard on a podcast. A thought that started inside your own head.
Most of us can’t remember. We’re just never offline long enough for our brains to come up with anything on their own. Here’s how to fix it.
1. Go Outside
Without a podcast. Without your phone camera. Just go sit somewhere with nothing to do.
When you’re in a space you didn’t build, your brain gets kind of quiet if you haven’t noticed. The sky is doing whatever it’s doing whether you look at it or not. Nothing is asking you to react. So your mind wanders. And the wandering is where the good stuff is
.
Sit on your front step. Walk to the corner. You don’t have to go far. Just get away from where you tend to be.
2. Open your Bible
We take in other people’s opinions all day. Even the spiritual stuff online is someone else’s take on truth, filtered through their experiences. Your Bible doesn’t do that. It’s always what it is and the only filter is whatever the Holy Spirit wants to show you.
I’ll read one verse and end up thinking about something I haven’t thought about in weeks. A question I forgot I had. You can’t get that from a feed bc life is only found in the worddd of Goddd.
3. Stare at one spot for 15 minutes
I know. But try it.
Pick a spot. A corner of the ceiling, a cup, a tree outside your window. Look at it for fifteen minutes. Put your phone in another room.
Your brain is going to freak out a little. It’s so used to being fed that it doesn’t know what to do with nothing. You’ll feel bored. You’ll want to check something. That’s fine. Stay anyway.
Around minute seven or eight, your thoughts change. They stop being about what’s next and start being about what’s already in there. Stuff you forgot about. Things you’ve been too busy to feel. Your brain has a lot to say when you finally shut up and let it talk.
Q: What am I handling better these days that I used to not?
NEWS N CLUES ABOUT WHATS NEW(S)
the ocean is a foot higher than almost every study assumed. a paper in Nature looked at hundreds of climate studies and found that 90% of them got the starting sea level wrong by about 30 centimeters. that means 132 million more people are in the path of rising water than anyone calculated. the error is worst in Southeast Asia where actual sea levels are more than 3 feet higher than the models said. a researcher at the University of Bristol called it “genuinely surprising.”
Meghan Markle & Netflix split Netflix dropped her "As Ever" lifestyle brand, and people have opinions, including me like what do you mean you dropped Meghan Crudite Markle’s show why what’d she do? Meghan is taking the brand independent. here’s the thing though: she sold 870,000 jars of jam out of a million-unit order and may have made $36 million from jam alone. the brand might actually do better without the show
