There’s something about success that doesn’t get talked about enough: embarrassment.

Everyone loves the shiny, confident moments, the times when someone finally seems to have it all figured out. But what about the middle? No Jimmy, no eats, and no world. Before confidence settles in, before things fall into place, there’s usually a phase where you feel awkward, exposed, even a bit foolish.

Most of us want to skip that part.

It’s not that people are lazy or untalented when they get stuck. Often, it’s fear of looking silly that holds them back. Nobody wants to fumble in public, ask a “stupid” question, share something imperfect, or admit they’re still learning.

And of course no one wants to do the thing that actually makes change happen.

Confidence rarely shows up before you start. Usually, you dive in, make mistakes, learn, and gradually grow into that confidence. What once felt embarrassing eventually becomes second nature.

Embarrassment is often the cost of stepping into something new.

If you’re trying to build something, shift your habits, grow spiritually, put your work out there, or be honest about what you want, you’re bound to feel awkward sometimes. That doesn’t mean you’re failing. More often, it means you’re doing something brave enough to change your life.

So this week, instead of worrying about looking dumb, do these instead.

Monday: Share something before it feels perfect. You can tweak it later.

Tuesday: Ask that question you’re scared will make you look behind. It’s probably the one that helps you grow fastest.

Wednesday: Reach out first, send the email, apply, start the conversation, whatever.

Thursday: Try something new, even if you’re not great at it yet. Everyone starts somewhere.

Friday: Say what you really want. It’s scary, but it beats pretending you don’t care.

Saturday: Let people see you in the middle of the process. Whateverrr that means for you.

Sunday: Be honest about what needs to change.

Maybe feeling embarrassed isn’t a signal to stop. Maybe it means you’re finally moving forward.

A lot of people stay small because they’re more worried about looking composed than about growing into who they’re meant to be. Real growth means letting go of the need to always look polished. You have to start

You can think about something forever. But thinking isn’t moving. At some point you just gotta go.

Your body knows

Okay, random but not random. There’s this whole thing in somatics about how the emotions you carry can settle into your actual body. Like physically. Your muscles just hold onto stuff.

Which is why hip-opening stretches can make you feel weirdly emotional. Or weirdly free. I’ve been doing them since December and I’m telling you, something is different. Try it and see what happens.

That weird in-between feeling

You know when you can feel a season ending but you can’t name what’s coming next? That feeling is so uncomfortable. But it’s not a bad sign. It just means something’s shifting.

You don’t have to have the words for it yet.

You don’t need the full map

You don’t have to know where you’re going. You just have to know who you’re following.

He’s not confused, even when you are. He’s not up in heaven like “oh no, I didn’t plan for this.” He sees the whole thing.

And yes, following Him can feel vulnerable. Because you want to ask a hundred questions first. Will this be safe? Do You see what this is costing me? Can I at least get a hint?

But He does see. And He’s still saying come.

Something has to die first

Resurrection isn’t just a nice idea. It comes after a real death. Sometimes that’s a death of expectations, the life you thought you’d have by now, the timeline you were holding onto so tight.

Things fall apart for better things to come together.

Because through Christ, something always rises. Not the same thing you lost. Something new, with glory on it.

You can’t see it yet

There are things coming for you that would make you stop worrying today if you could see them.

Not just for you either. For the people around you. God doesn’t build small. The life He’s putting together for you is bigger than your comfort zone and longer than your timeline.

He’s writing something better than what you would’ve written for yourself. And honestly? One day you’re going to be so glad He didn’t let you have your way.

One day

One day you’re going to look around and thank Him for the things you once begged Him to explain. For what ended and for what He made new.

Even now, in the waiting, He’s still being good to you.

The Paradox of Control the more you try to cont

We're taught to believe that control is the key to a good life. That if you can just plan everything perfectly prepare for every outcome and hold on tightly enough you can avoid the chaos the pain the uncertainty. Control feels safe, it feels powerful It feels like the only way to keep your world from falling apart.

Here's the paradox: the tighter you hold on the less control you actually have.

The more you try to force life to fit into your expectations the more it slips through your fingers, because life isn't meant to be controlled it's meant to be lived. And sometimes the only way to truly gain control is to let go.

Whatever you hold on to tightly, will get away from you. Nothing wants to be held, because nothing was designed to be controlled. God designed us with free will, so everything follows that pattern. You don’t have to force outcomes, or situations, or seasons most of all because they will already do, what God has ordained them to do, whether you control them or not.

Let yourself relax, give yourself permission to not assume that everything you can’t control is controlling you, it’s not. Nothing is against you, everything is happening for you. And everything is going to workout for you. I know because it already is.

It’s Okay to Be Afraid of a New Chapter

A new chapter can feel exciting in theory and terrifying in real life.

People love to talk about fresh starts like they are automatically beautiful. Like once the door opens, you will just walk through it feeling clear, confident, and ready. And sometimes it does feel that way.

But most of the time, a new chapter doesn’t just bring excitement. It brings uncertainty. It brings the uncomfortable question of who you will have to become now.

That’s usually the hardest part. Not just the new place, the new risk, the new opportunity, or the new season itself, but the fact that change asks something of you.

It asks you to let go of what felt safe. It asks you to stop hiding in what’s familiar. It asks you to trust yourself in places you have never been before.

And that’s why fear shows up. Not always because something is wrong, but because something is changing.

Because you can want something for a long time and still feel unsettled when it finally arrives.

You can pray for more, work for more, hope for more, and still feel intimidated when it is time to actually live inside it.

So sometimes the real question is not, “Why am I scared?”

Sometimes the deeper question is, “What is this new chapter asking me to release?” “Where have I gotten too comfortable?” “Who do I need to become if I want to meet what I asked for?”

Because maybe fear is not always a sign to stop. Maybe sometimes it is just proof that you are standing at the edge of growth. Maybe it is the feeling of your old self realizing she cannot come with you in quite the same way.

A new chapter is not just about what is beginning. It is also about what you are being invited to become.

And sometimes courage looks less like confidence and more like giving yourself grace while you learn how to keep going.

I submit my emotions, how I feel, the cloud of doubt, and the fog of fear at the feet of Jesus, and I choose right now to no longer live from that paradigm.

If you’re not careful, life can turn into a checklist, that you spend all your years trying to get just right, so that you can finally enjoy it, instead of oh I don’t know, enjoying it?? Like hello??

Somewhere in all that pressure, comparison, and unnecessary destiny-management, many people lose their aliveness. After all the kingdom of God isn’t a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Playfulness brings you back.

Not recklessness, immaturity, or avoiding responsibility, but P-L-A-Y-F-U-L-N-E-S-S.

Playfulness is what happens when you are no longer so tightly wound around fear, appearances, and other people’s expectations. It’s lightness, curiosity, openness. You’re more curious about the world around you than you are afraid of it. You’re more curious about the future before you than intimidated by it. It’s often a sign that you trust life enough to actually live it.

1. Playfulness pulls you out of survival mode

When you are living in fear, everything feels serious in the worst way.

Every decision feels loaded, every option feels fatal, every interest has to prove itself…playfulness interrupts that. It reminds you that life is not only something to manage. It is also something to experience. It makes shifts you into receiving mode which is what you need tbh.

A playful person is not asking, “How do I avoid getting this wrong?” every second.
They are also asking, “What would feel alive here?”

That is abundance.

2. It helps you hear your own desires again

A lot of people are simply disconnected from themselves, usually if someone’s disconnected from themselves they usually feel disconnected from God.

They have spent so long absorbing other people’s timelines, opinions, and philosophies that they no longer know what God’s timelines, opinions, and truth’s are. They know what sounds smart. They know what looks impressive. But they do not know what feels True, capital T.

Playfulness helps with that. Children move toward what delights them without needing to overexplain it, and Jesus told us to be like what?

3. Comparison loses power when you are fully engaged in your own life

It is hard to keep obsessing over what everyone else is doing when you are genuinely enjoying your own path.

The more alive you are in your own life, the less fascinated you become with measuring yourself against everybody else.

4. Creativity grows where there is room for it to

Some of the most powerful ideas do not come from forcing.

They come from wandering a little, trying something. Following a random curiosity.
Letting your mind stretch out into the realm of possibility. Do you know why this happens? It’s the Holy Spirit! The creative spirit. Once you let go enough, He takes over and He’s just wow amazing at Who He Is.

5. Playfulness keeps your spirit young

There are people who are still young but already feel old inside.

Not because of age, but because they have become so serious, so guarded, so over managed that life no longer reaches them. They’ve lost alll whimsy. The good thing is though, joy, and whimsy, have a habit of returning.

Final thought

When you find your playfullness, in everything you do, success, your success, finds its home in you.

Take your life seriously. But do not hold it so tightly that you forget how to be light.

Anyway my walk thought of the week,

Never hold a positive thought, Alwayssss express it.

The meditations of your heart can stay locked inside of you if you never let them out. So let them come through your lips. Speak them.

Think about when you’re on a walk and the sun is shining. You feel good. A happy thought comes to your mind. Don’t ignore it. Say it. Or write it down.

When you do this, you train your brain to notice good things. You start to see more of what is right, not just what’s wrong.

Your words matter. Your words help shape your life. In the beginning, the world was made by spoken words. So don’t hold in the good when you can go about releasing it.

When you start saying your positive thoughts, more of them will come. Your life will feel lighter. You will notice more joy. This is something that came to me during my walk yesterday afternoon and I just think it’s so beautycutie.

Try it today. Just for today, say the good things out loud.

I promise, it can change your life.

Whatever has the potential to change your life will change your life,

if you let it.

Even though my default programming has been to rely on my emotions, my circumstances, how I feel, my lack, my health, anxiety, demonic attacks, people leaving, and opportunities not working, I no longer identify with those things because I am a royal priesthood, a co-heir with Christ, and a new creation.

Therefore, my life on earth looks drastically different than it used to look.

That is usually how personal-development starts. Not with a perfect plan. Not with a brand-new personality. Just with the quiet realization that you lowkeezy cannot keep living beneath who you are meant to be.

The good news is that growth does not begin with doing everything at once. It begins with a few honest decisions, repeated long enough to change your life.

Here are nine things that can help you start.

1. Stop labeling things as “easy” or “hard”

The way you name things matters more than you think.

When you keep calling something “hard,” your mind starts treating it like a wall. When you call something “easy,” you may not respect what it takes. Both labels can trap you.

Sometimes the better question is not, “Is this hard?”
It is, “Am I willing to learn how to do this?”

A lot of growth becomes possible when you stop judging the road before you walk it. You do not need to dramatize the process. You just need to stay open enough to grow through it.

2. Read books and never stop learning

People who keep growing usually keep learning.

Books stretch your mind. They introduce you to better language, better questions, better standards, and sometimes even a better future. They help you realize that the way you think right now is not the only way to think.

You do not need to read a hundred books a year to become a different person. You just need to stay teachable.

Read things that sharpen you.

Read things that make your life bigger.

Keep moving mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically.
Keep going even if your progress feels small.
Keep going even if you are not where you want to be yet.

Movement builds confidence and stagnation builds doubt.

Your life is deeply shaped by your rhythms.

How you end your day matters.
How you begin your day matters.
The condition of your body affects the condition of your mind more than many people want to admit.

You do not need a perfect routine. You need a rhythm that helps you feel like you belong to your own life again.

7. Cut the vices

Whatever numbs you, distracts you, drains you, or keeps you from facing your real life will eventually cost you more than it gives you.

Sometimes the vice is obvious. Sometimes it looks respectable. Overthinking can be a vice. Constant scrolling can be a vice. Escaping into fantasy can be a vice. So can habits that keep you disconnected from your body, your purpose, and your peace.

Ask yourself what keeps pulling you away from the life you say you want.

8. Become more self-aware

Signs You’ve Been Treating Yourself Like the Experiment Instead of the Experimenter

I run experiments for a living. I study people and the products they use, but mostly I study their mental models. How they interact with things. How they make sense of what’s in front of them. What they trust without questioning.

But I also spent the majority of my life as a social experiment. Literally. I was the only Black girl in my entire grade forever. Never had any Black friends until college. I was a lil chunksalista.

Anyway.

When you grow up being observed, tested, measured against whatever the room has decided is normal, you get really good at adjusting. And if you’re not careful, you start treating your whole self like something that’s still under a review. Meanwhile, everyone else looks finished to you. Done. Arrived.

Here’s how to tell if you’ve been doing that.

1. You trust other people’s opinions about you more than your own.

Someone gives you feedback and it immediately overwrites whatever you were thinking five minutes ago. Their perspective feels like it’s automatically better than yours ever could be.

2. You’re always one critique away from a full identity revision.

A friend makes a comment about how you handled something and suddenly you’re rethinking your entire personality. Not just that one moment. Everything. Because when you see yourself as the experiment, every piece of feedback feels like a result. And results mean you need to adjust something.

3. You look at other people and assume they’re the final version.

They seem so sure. So settled. So not up at 1 a.m. wondering if they’re doing everything wrong. And you compare their seeming certainty to your own constant questioning and think the gap means something is wrong with you or your life. It doesn’t. It means you’ve been grading yourself on a curve that was never yours to begin with.

4. You carry a quiet resentment you can’t always name.

When you view yourself as a variable and everyone else as a constant, something bitter starts to build. You’re doing all this work, all this adjusting, all this self-monitoring, and it feels like nobody else has to try this hard. That resentment is what happens when you’ve been doing someone else’s job for too long.

5. You’ve forgotten what your own voice actually sounds like.

There’s a difference between your inner voice and the still small voice. And they’re connected. That voice that knows things before you can explain them, that pulls you back when something feels off, it’s connected to the Holy Spirit. But when you’ve spent years treating yourself like the subject instead of the scientist, you stop hearing it. Or worse, you hear it and you don’t believe it. You wait for someone else to confirm what you already knew.

6. You ask for permission to do things you already have the answer to.

You poll your friends. You crowdsource your decisions. You send the screenshot to the group chat before you respond. And sometimes that’s just community. But sometimes it’s because you genuinely do not trust yourself to do anything without external validation. That’s the experiment mindset talking. The experimenter already knows what she saw. She doesn’t need the gc to tell her.

7. You keep waiting to feel finished.

You’re never going to feel finished. But that doesn’t mean you’re not ready. It means you’re alive. The experiment mindset says you’re incomplete. The experimenter mindset says you’re in process.

At the end of the day

You’re not something that has to be influenced by a million perspectives. You’re someone who has been given authority in Christ to lean 100% on the Holy Spirit and let Him lead you. You are His. And the end result is already written. You’re going to look like Christ. That’s the outcome. That’s always been the outcome.

So you can stop treating yourself like a variable. You can stop holding yourself up to everyone else’s results and wondering why your data looks different. It looks different because your life is different. That’s as simple and complex as it gets.

Allow yourself to trust yourself.

Four things that happen when you stop mistaking a tree for the forest because it’s easy to do and we could all use some nonchalant

1. You stop fearing variation.

Some trees are big. Some are small. Some are not much to look at at all.

2. Fallen leaves become a part of the process.

Leaves fall, and they grow again. And the same ones that grow again? They too fall. The serendipity is found the moment you realize the source of the leaf is within not only the tree before you, but any tree you encounter.

3. The path through may not exist yet.

And that is okay. A path can only be made by forging it after all.

4. You learn to experience it all together, all at once, without attaching yourself to a single one.

2. Veg and Meat

Every meal (I do one meal a day ish when I’m eating like this) should generally be a protein some veg and a spoon or two of any carb I love rice so for me it’s usually some form of rice or bread and butter depends on my mood; dessert is usually half a piece of fruit, Zozo why is it half a piece of fruit??

why not the whole fruit?? It’s really just a mental thing if I feel like I need to have something I don’t really need, I have to mentally detach from the need so I’m attached to my power does that make sense?

He told husbands to love their wives, not just look at them. Your standard isn’t his face; it’s his love. That love should be just as deep on Day 1 as it is on Day 30,000. It doesn’t change; it only gets deeper. If the quantity of respect starts low, it stays low…if the opposite, well.

How to treat yourself like the pretty princess you are a few things to help you feel more passionate about feeling more yourself

1. Surround yourself with things you adore. You need to surround yourself with everything that mirrors you. Find your happy colors, and you start wearing them, it’ll boost your mood. When you’re out in the world, you can’t pick up your house and bring it with you, so I try my best to surround myself with reminders of me to feel more comforted. Being surrounded by things that ground you feels so nice.

2. Make your inner world appear in your outer world.

I love daydreaming, and I feel like usually it gets abandoned, but it makes your inner world so much richer. You have to fill your brain up with things that are whimsical to you, not just worries or what people are doing.

3. Be that hug that you’ve always needed. Understand your needs and be gentle with yourself. It’s okay to be confused, it’s okay to cry, and it’s okay to be upset, especially because every nervous system is built very differently.

4. Focus on your own garden. I feel like it’s so important to focus on your own garden and not see what other people are growing. Focus on your goals and what you need. I feel like Pinterest is like a perfect digital garden store, use it to decorate your iPad, computer, phone widgets, and your messages profile pictures, just so every time you open these things you can see what you love and it just makes life feel more cuter.

5. Don’t be a drag! It’s okay to be silly!. Give yourself time to just be silly sometimes and laugh at yourself. The biggest sign of a healed nervous system is the ability to be childishhhh.

A Brazilian Girl’s Guide to a Summer Glow Up if you start implementing now you’ll be golden (literally) by summer

Hi everyone! Excited to be the first writer on From Love Itself!

I’m not Brazilian by nationality but, I love Bruna Marquezine and the Brazilian national soccer team so and all things beauty, so here’s what I’ve picked up.

Hibiscus tea. It’s amazing for your lymphatic system, which basically means less bloating and better skin. Also getting lymphatic drainage massages pretty regularly. If you can try one even once a month, do it.

Nails that are always done. Like our Russian sisters, cuticle removal has always been standard in Brazil, and Russian manicures have made it way more accessible everywhere else. Even without polish, clean cuticles make your hands look completely different.

Coconut water and real food. Coconuts are the best natural sources of electrolytes, it’s low glycemic, and it’s great for your skin. Pair that with how Brazilians actually eat, papaya, Brazil nuts, root vegetables like yuca, eggs, legumes, lots of cabbage, and you start to understand why people look the way they do there. It’s a whole-food thing. Nothing extreme.

Moving your body outside. The steps culture you’re seeing blow up right now has been normal in Brazil for years. Walking, beach volleyball, boxing, lifting. The difference is that women there usually do something outdoors on top of the gym. You’re getting exercise and sun at the same time, which is the cheat code.

Moisturizing like you mean it. They moisturize a lot, I mix coconut oil and rose oil after a shower while my skin is still damp, and when I’m consistent with it, the difference is obvious. At least four times a week. That’s the baseline. Also scrubbing your skin with exfoliating gloves and then without, but with a scrub twice a day girl!

None of this is complicated. Drink your hibiscus tea, eat real food, get a little sun, take care of your skin. The whole “Brazilian beauty secret” is really just consistency and paying attention to the basics. Consistency alone accomplishes nothing, you have to be consistently disciplined too. 😇

• one dose of psilocybin made smokers six times more likely to quit than a nicotine patch. a Johns Hopkins study of 82 people found that after six months, 17 who took psilocybin had stayed off cigarettes versus only 4 in the patch group. everyone also got therapy. psilocybin doesn’t target nicotine receptors at all. it works by disrupting brain networks and possibly making the brain more flexible. smoking kills 480,000 Americans a year and there hasn’t been a new treatment in 20 years. the NIH is now funding a bigger trial

3 Ways to Have an Original Thought your brain needs space to create, not just consume.

When was the last time you had a thought that was actually yours? Like, not something you picked up from a Tiktok or half-heard on a podcast. A thought that started inside your own head.

Most of us can’t remember. We’re just never offline long enough for our brains to come up with anything on their own. Here’s how to fix it.

1. Go Outside

Without a podcast. Without your phone camera. Just go sit somewhere with nothing to do.

When you’re in a space you didn’t build, your brain gets kind of quiet if you haven’t noticed. The sky is doing whatever it’s doing whether you look at it or not. Nothing is asking you to react. So your mind wanders. And the wandering is where the good stuff is

.

Sit on your front step. Walk to the corner. You don’t have to go far. Just get away from where you tend to be.

2. Open your Bible

We take in other people’s opinions all day. Even the spiritual stuff online is someone else’s take on truth, filtered through their experiences. Your Bible doesn’t do that. It’s always what it is and the only filter is whatever the Holy Spirit wants to show you.

I’ll read one verse and end up thinking about something I haven’t thought about in weeks. A question I forgot I had. You can’t get that from a feed bc life is only found in the worddd of Goddd.

3. Stare at one spot for 15 minutes

I know. But try it.

Pick a spot. A corner of the ceiling, a cup, a tree outside your window. Look at it for fifteen minutes. Put your phone in another room.

Your brain is going to freak out a little. It’s so used to being fed that it doesn’t know what to do with nothing. You’ll feel bored. You’ll want to check something. That’s fine. Stay anyway.

Around minute seven or eight, your thoughts change. They stop being about what’s next and start being about what’s already in there. Stuff you forgot about. Things you’ve been too busy to feel. Your brain has a lot to say when you finally shut up and let it talk.
